Well, we’re off!
Day 1 brought us to New Columbia, PA, in the Susquehanna Valley. It was approximately a 6 hour drive. It was supposed to be about 412 miles, but Gypsy (our Garmin GPS) has a cute sense of humor, & decided we needed to take a slightly round about journey during the last 5 miles. The campground, Nittany Mountain Campground, is on Miller Bottom Rd. however, despite programing the street number, Gypsy directed us to the far end of Miller Bottom, then had us drive these sweet little narrow windy roads back to the other end where the campground really can be found. I had to drop the RV into 2nd gear twice to climb the twistier hills, all the while the computer showing that I was now getting “ -- mpg”, which I think is somehow actually below zero, not fuel efficient by any definition!
I can’t connect to the internet today, so this will get posted whenever I can. Making it trickier for me, I managed to mangle the end of my left pinky finger 2 days ago, & it keeps opening up at inconvenient times, like while walking Buster, or hooking up the water & electric. And like a ninny, I keep thinking it’s fine, until I re-open the wound & start bleeding all over the leash or the cords or the hose. So now I’m trying to type with a wrapped up pinkie, & keep hitting erroneous keys because my pinkie hurts & I’m trying to use other fingers while qwerty typing (&, yes, typing that name made me use my poor purple pinkie).
It’s 5:30 now, the kids are getting hungry for supper. There’s a nice breeze blowing into the RV & there is this wonderful smell of burning wood, the very aromatic kind, surrounding us. I think it’s time to camp.
