Tomorrow morning Kimi, Shaun, Buster & I hit the road for our great trans-American adventure. Nervous & excited best describe our moods (except for Buster; he remains oblivious).
Washing the last bit of laundry, packing the refrigerator & freezer, saying "goodbye" to friends who couldn't resist seeing the RV before the trip - these are the last moments of preparation.
Phil came home mid-afternoon to be with us & help catch any details that might be missed. Tonight, dinner out - a little farewell celebration with the bonus of no cooking or cleaning up!
Then, early to bed, early to rise. Our goal is to be on the road by 9 am, my Starbucks iced soy mocha already in hand (umm...cup holder, actually)! Then it's Pennsylvania, here we come!
Farewell,
& stay tuned!

The Long Goodbyes
Saying goodbye before a journey is always bittersweet. Today we spent time with Val, Greg & Monica plus my parents. Mom gave Kimi & me our birthday cards & gifts since our birthdays will be occuring during the trip. It makes the length of the trip seem all the longer when on Aug 6 you’re saying, “See you in October”!
It was a long but fun-filled day. We went canoeing with the Lyons on the Concord river, adding to our list of annual must-do events we share with them. We’re going to have to wait until October to check off the Davis Farmland MegaMaze – it only just opened for this year & we don’t have enough time to go there before the trip.
This afternoon, we joined my folks back at our house to swim & then eat a lot of yummy Indian food & pizza – two great tastes that don’t exactly go together, but don’t start fights in your tummy, either.
Monica is sleeping over & gets reunited with Val at voice lessons tomorrow. Then it’s really, really goodbye - until our next phone chat/email! Gotta love technology!!
